Dr. Chonghoon Pak

Practitioner

Dr. Chonghoon Pak is a senior resident at Care Comfort Cure. He graduated from Five Branches University program and earned his license as a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner in both California and nationally as an NCCAOM Diplomate.

Previously Dr. Pak practiced as a family doctor in South Korea for over 16 years. He earned his medical degree from Wonkwang University in 1992, and completed his four year residency at Sungae Hospital. He worked as a military doctor for three years before opening his own clinic. He also earned a gastrointestinal endoscopy certification in 2007, and taught as an assistant and associate professor at the family medicine outpatient clinic of Korea University from 2007 to 2012.

As a medical doctor, Dr. Pak witnessed the limitations of Western biomedicine. He saw patients with chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes only increase their medication dosage, and those suffering from pain rely on many painkillers. He also saw patients who he couldn’t help improve after they received acupuncture and herbs from traditional medicine practitioners. This piqued his interest; he wanted to learn more so he could better help his patients.

After moving to the US in 2015, Dr. Pak was in the process of re-certifying his medical degree when, to his delight, he learned that he could study and become a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner here. Now, he is happy that he has more solutions and better results to offer his patients. He sees biomedicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine as complementary medicines and integrates both in his practice.
